Maren Horjus is the Destinations Editor at BACKPACKER. Her trips section, the Play List, which delivers more than 20 hikes from coast to coast every issue, was National Magazine Award-nominated in 2016. (Damn Culture Pages.) She has written for Skiing, Mountain, Men’s Health, Sports Illustrated, and SI Kids. Her first book, Haunted Hikes, is set to hit bookshelves this fall. She lives in Boulder, Colorado, with her husband and rescue dog because she is a living, breathing stereotype with a penchant for Chicago Style.
