Author Biography

Dr. Manning Marable is the M. Moran Weston/Black Alumni Council Professor of African American Studies and Director of the Center for Contemporary Black History at Columbia University. He is one of America's most influential historians, widely read scholars, and interpreters of the black experience.

 

Kristen Clarke is a civil rights attorney based in Washington, D.C. An expert on voting rights and political participation matters, she writes and comments frequently on issues concerning race, law and democracy.
