Summary

Ettie Brockbank is the heart and soul of Cook's Basin, a sleepy offshore community comprising a cluster of dazzling blue bays. But for all the idyllic surroundings, Ettie can't help wondering how she's so very little to show for her 52 years. Until fate lends her a helping hand in the shape of a dilapidated, lopsided caf on the water's edge. Like Ettie, The Briny Caf has been there for years and is the anchor of the community. When Bertie, the septuagenarian owner, offers Ettie the business for a knockdown price it's an opportunity too good to miss. But it's a huge job and she'll need a partner. Enter Kate Parker, the enigmatic new resident of the haunted house on Oyster Bay. There's a mystery about Kate that even Ettie can't crack, but one thing is clear Kate is running away from something... Could giving a ramshackle little caf a new lease of life be the new start both women are so desperate fora?
