Summary

Famous during the nineteenth century as buffalo hunters on the Great Plains, the Cheyennes were originally a woodland people. Today, the tribe is divided between the Northern Cheyennes, who live on their Montana reservation, and the Southern Cheyennes, who live in Oklahoma, mostly on or near the Concho Reservation. Other Cheyennes are scattered throughout the United States.
