Sergi Soler, el protagonista de esta novela, está en su mejor momento: es un reconocido editor y promotor cultural, ocupa un importante cargo en la Universidad Nacional, se ha enamorado de una mujer con quien vive un apasionado romance, su fama y prestigio son cada vez mayores y, con un par de libros que recién publicó, gana un importante premio literario. Pero entonces su vida cambia radicalmente: alguien revive una vieja acusación de plagio a la que nunca prestó atención, el mundo de la cultura lo lincha en las redes sociales y lo obliga a renunciar a su puesto en la universidad y a su premio literario. Al poco tiempo, tal turbulencia también afecta a su nuevo amor. Su mundo es arrasado; tal parece que no quedará piedra sobre piedra...
Pero siempre pueden ocurrir más calamidades: cuando Sergi piensa que está en vías de recuperación encuentra a su padre muerto en el piso de su departamento. Esa noche, recomponiendo sus piezas en una suerte de expiación, comprende que una de las causas de la tempestad que lo abatió fue precisamente él, con su soberbia y frivolidad. También comprende que esto no sólo es evidente por su ejercicio de introspección y su estudio de la kabbalah, sino porque tuvo y tendrá el apoyo de personas que siempre le serán cercanas: en primer lugar, desde la desolada noche sin tiempo de la muerte, su padre.

Sergi Soler is living his best life: he is a renowned editor and cultural promoter, holds an important position at the most prestigious university, is in love with a woman with whom he has a passionate romance, his fame and prestige grow more and more each day and, with a couple of books that he just published, he wins an important literary prize. But then his life changes radically: someone unearths an old accusation of plagiarism, one he had never paid any mind to, he soon gets a social media lynching, which in turn forces him to leave his job at the university and give back his literary prize. Soon, this also affects his love live; his world is devastated, and it seems there will be no stone left unturned.
But there is still room for more misfortunes to happen: when Sergi thinks he is on the road to recovery and to get his life back on track, he finds his father dead in his apartment. That night, while putting all the pieces together in a kind of atonement, he understands that it was precisely his father one of the main causes of the storm that had struck his life, due to his arrogance and frivolousness.
