Summary

Journey to the world elsewhere with the colorful, quotable, and timeless words of the Bard himself, William Shakespeare. Enjoy coloring thirty-two pages of illustrations that include memorable lines from his sonnets and plays, scenes inspired by the Elizabethan era, and landmarks important to the Bard’s life, like The Globe Theatre, Shakespeare’s Birthplace, and Anne Hathaway’s Cottage.

If you struggled through Shakespeare in High School English class and wonder why his work was and still is so popular, Color The Bard is just what you need.  Some of his best quotes from the tradgedies, comedies, and histories his curious mind wrote are paired with art that conveys the theme from one of his works.  It's a fun way to delve a little deeper into William Shakespeare's legacy. William Shakespeare was knows as a quiet, observant person, though through his writing it became clear that he was very insightfu and curious. His plays reflected the joys and sorrows of life at that time.

No artistic skill necessary, because fair is foul, and foul is fair.

Author Biography

Kate Zarrella is the Creative Director at Calling Card Books and Z Girls Press, and the designer of Color The Bard: A Coloring Book Featuring The Sonnets, Sound, and Fury of William Shakespeare. Watching good friends perform in King Lear in a Southern California high school theater production introduced Kate to Shakespeare. While in college, she signed up for a Shakespeare seminar where she learned the culture and history of the Bard's high art and low humor. While studying in London later in her college career, she was able to visit important locations like The Globe Theater.
