Damned – The exciting conclusion to The Castle Chronicles Trilogy.
When his stint in the US Army ends, Mark leaves the service in search of a new life, and a new career. Heading back to Cleveland, he attends college for over a year, but can't seem to find a direction in life. Feeling his destiny lies elsewhere, he bids a fond farewell to his mom – and his cat, Blackjack – then hits the road to seek out his future.
After stops here and there, Mark moves to Santa Fe where he takes a job in a hospital's dietary department. One night, while delivering food to its patients, Mark hears the cries of an elderly lady – a woman begging that someone help, that someone – anyone – stop a mysterious visitor that lurks the wards at night. Knowing there's more than a few things in the world that go bump in the night, Mark takes it upon himself to track down the entity in hopes of helping the woman.
Soon after agreeing to help, Mark happens upon an inexplicable creature. A creature that seems to be draining the aura – the very life force – from its victims. Successful in scaring off the being, Mark leaves Santa Fe to hunt down the entity to stop it before it can harm anyone else.
Landing in Las Vegas, Mark takes a job similar to his last, but it's not long before his special "abilities" are noticed. Approached by James Cerelli, the head of a Las Vegas Mafia family, Mark is asked if he'd like a better job – a job where he can put his special skills to use. Although hesitant at first, Mark agrees to join their crew and becomes their newest – and most valuable – Hitman on their payroll.
Is this Mark's true destiny? Will he ever find the creature responsible for the deaths of the ones he cares about? Or will his next meeting with the soul devouring creature be his last?
