Chiaki Nanami is the Ultimate Gamer, selected as one of Japan’s most expert teens to attend the elite Hope’s Peak High School. What could be nicer than for the semester to kick off with a class trip to the tropical resort of Jabberwock Island? In Volume 2, Nanami witnesses the unexpected power of Monomi against a fearsome guardian Monobeast, freeing the way for the students to access a new island at the tropical Jabberwock resort/prison! The island has a library, a pharmacy, a diner, but strangest of all, it has Hope’s Peak Academy itself, mysteriously covered by a growth of trees and vines. Some believe video games cause violence…and Monokuma is out to prove it, as he challenges the class to play a game within their game—Twilight Syndrome, which he claims will reveal their next motive to commit murder. This is just the dare that Chiaki Nanami, the Ultimate Gamer, will take…but she vows that whatever the playthrough, she won’t allow another class killing to take place!
