Author Biography

Crystal Chanel is a storyteller, emcee, and marketing strategist whose voice bridges purpose and power. As the founder and CEO of Press Release Marketing, LLC, she leads a boutique firm that amplifies brands through intentional strategy, bold storytelling, and culturally aligned design. Her work connects small businesses and community organizations to their audiences through authenticity and creative excellence.

Crystal's artistry, however, extends far beyond the marketing world. As a poet and cultural curator, she uses her words to explore themes of identity, resilience, belonging, and the lived experience of Black womanhood in America. Her debut poetry book, Daughter of the Diaspora, weaves together personal reflection, historical context, and unapologetic truth-telling. Through poems and short stories, she examines what it means to navigate dual realities, to live in two worlds, to be both celebrated and scrutinized, visible and invisible, and a relentless dreamer.

Born with a global perspective, Crystal's life journey has taken her from living in East Germany as a teenager, to serving in the U.S. Armed Forces in her twenties, to traveling across the United States in her thirties and forties witnessing how Black women are seen, celebrated, and challenged in different regions and cultures. These experiences shape her understanding of community and connection, fueling her mission to uplift Black culture and voices through every platform she touches.

A proud advocate of Black enterprise, faith, and education, Crystal believes that creativity is both resistance and rest, an act of self-preservation in a world that often misunderstands Black women. Come what may, Crystal moves with the conviction that "better is possible, and getting by is never enough."
