Author Biography

Dr. William G. Doerner is a professor in the School of Criminology and Criminal Justice at Florida State University in Tallahassee and former Director of the Program in Criminal Justice there. He is also a part-time sworn officer and member of the Training Oversight Committee with the Tallahassee Police Department. Dr. Doerner has written several books and over fifty scholarly articles dealing with such topics as law enforcement, victimology, and juvenile delinquency Charles W. Rushing is a certified law enforcement instructor with the state of Florida. He also works as a part-time patrol officer with the Tallahassee Police Department, where he is a member of the Training Oversight Committee and holds the rank of sergeant. He consults as a subject matter expert regarding academy curriculum changes with Criminal Justice Standards and Training at the Florida Department of Law Enforcement and advises local agencies about training standards and officer recertification
