Heidi Merika is a qualified naturopath and medical herbalist with a passion for wild medicinal and nutritional plants. She has lectured in nutrition and herbal medicine at RMIT University, Endeavour College of Natural Health, University of the Sunshine Coast and Southern Cross University's National Centre for Naturopathic Medicine. With more than two decades of industry experience, she has also been running courses and workshops on plant medicine, wildcrafting, herbal medicine and plant-based nutrition both in person and online since 2012. She was involved in the menopause program at Melbourne's Royal Women's Hospital, has been a guest speaker at the College of Lactation Consultants Victoria international conference, and was asked to speak at the 2022 Herbal Medicine Summit in Sydney. Her work combines her knowledge of natural health as it relates to nutrition, medicine, spiritual growth, environmentalism, creativity and the joy of living. From the Wild is her second book. Her first book, Wildcraft: The Science and Spirit of Wild Plants as Food and Medicine, was self-published in 2019. She lives on Queensland's Sunshine Coast.
