Author Biography

LEE GARDENSWARTZ, PH.D., and ANITA ROWE, PH.D., have been helping organizations with diversity for more than 25 years. They have co-authored numerous books, including Managing Diversity: A Complete Desk Reference and Planning Guide (Business One Irwin, 1993), which has served as a primary guide to organizations in structuring their diversity initiatives, providing not only conceptual information but techniques and tools as well. &i; Managing Diversity &/i; won the book of the year award from the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM). Gardenswartz and Rowe also write a regular column in Mosaics and Managing Diversity newsletter, have written articles on diversity for publications such as Physician Executive, College and University Personnel Journal and Working World and have been featured in Personnel Journal.

PATRICIA DIGH's recent book, &i; Global Literacies: Lessons on Business Leadership and National Cultures &/i; (Simon Schuster 2000) was selected by Fortune magazine as a "Best Business Book" for 2000. Her comments and articles about diversity and structural inequality have appeared on PBS, and in the Wall Street Journal, Fortune, New York Times, USA Today, Washington Post, and London Financial Times, among other publications. Patti serves on the faculty of the Summer Institute for Intercultural Communication, and has lectured in Israel, South Africa, Australia, Guyana, and New Zealand, having lived, worked, and traveled in over 50 countries.

MARTIN F. BENNETT is a principal in Bennett Consulting, a training and management consultancy that focuses on race, ethnicity and nationality in the workplace. He has over 29 years of experience in the field of cross-cultural management training and development for corporations, organizations, and educational centers in North and South America, Europe and Asia. Martin has consulted to both corporate and nonprofit organizations and developed management, cross-cultural training programs, presentations and consulting for Fortune 500 companies. Martin is also a founding member of the Global Diversity Roundtable and has conducted Global Diversity training and corporate research in Singapore, Hong Kong, United Kingdom and North America for Lucent, Morgan Stanley, Infineum and Capital One Financial Group.
