Summary

“Come on, Ian,” says Mom. “You’re sick and you’re going to bed. Take off your clothes and put on your pajamas.” Mom tucks Ian in and gives him a big kiss. Ian coughs a few times and then he falls asleep.

Ian is sick. He can’t stop coughing and his throat hurts.
Mom makes a cozy bed for Ian on the couch and Dad goes to the doctor to get some medicine. The next day, Ian is feeling a little better but he can’t go to school.
Emma, the babysitter, stays with him while Mom and Dad go to work. They play games together and Emma makes delicious pancakes. The pancakes are magic, because Ian is soon feeling better again!

A comforting picture book about being a little sick. For children ages 3 and up.

Author Biography

Pauline Oud was born in 1963 in Hilversum, The Netherlands.

She has been working as an illustrator for over 15 years now. After her graduation from art school in 1985 she worked as an artist and art teacher for a while before applying her knowledge to her first love; children’s books.

Before she starts working, she likes to start her days with an hour running to clear her head and think about her drawings. She likes to collect children’s books, because they give her so much inspiration. When she is out of inspiration, she also likes to visit the Museum of medieval Art to stare at the books her colleagues have illustrated some 700 years ago.

She currently lives in Bilthoven (the Netherlands) with her husband and her two children Roos and Walt.
