Summary

The Jamic language was created to redefine the Jamaican language. Jamic represents the legacy of the enslaved Africans who originally formed the language. Patwa, or Broken English, does not acknowledge the West African languages, namely Akan, Igbo, Wolof, and Twi, that makes up the way Jamaicans currently speak. So, the name Jamic was created to eliminate the stigma of illiteracy that the word Patwa or Broken English imposes on Jamaicans. Jamic simply means of or relating to Jamaica. In this case, it refers to the language.
