Author Biography

I am Tamya Valentine a graduate of the illustrious Delaware State University. I am from Seatpleasant Maryland and have always had an undying passion for English and Literature. I earned my Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education. I am currently a first-year teacher in the Baltimore City Public School District, teaching 4th-grade English. This fall semester I will be starting graduate school at Morgan State University to obtain my degree in Educational Leadership and Administration. Journey's Grand Adventure gave me the chance to reach African American children and enlighten them on so much of our history that we usually do not learn about it until we are older. This is not only my goal as an author but as an educator as well. There are undoubtedly many dark moments in our history, but we cannot allow that to make us lose sight of the victorious moments. Writing this book offered me several moments of deep reflection on my journey as an African American woman as well as the journey of many others who came before me. I hope you enjoy this journey into history and take time to reflect on your journey.
