Summary

COSTUMES ARE FOR CREEPS! From super-powered aliens to Cursed Earth mutants, Judge Dredd dishes out justice to all in this action-packed collection of stories from some of comic's biggest talents, including John Wagner, Alan Grant, Carlos Ezquerra, Mike Collins, Alan Davis, Simon Bisley, Richard Elson, Simon Spurrier and Eric Powell, amongst many others.

HEROES DON’T LAST LONG IN MEGA-CITY ONE!

Welcome to Mega-City One, a nightmarish metropolis situated along the east coast of post-apocalyptic North America. Poverty is rife, crime is rampant, and only the Judges – empowered to dispense instant justice – can stop total anarchy. Toughest of them all is JUDGE DREDD – he is the Law!

There are plenty of law-breaking freaks amongst the citizenship of the ‘Big Meg’. From Futsies to Umpty-baggers, the Judges have their hands full. But the worst offenders are those who try and enforce their own brand of justice. Especially that strange strain of vigilante who chooses to hit the streets in brightly-coloured spandex!

From super-powered aliens to Cursed Earth mutants, Judge Dredd dishes out justice to all in this action-packed collection of stories from some of comicdom’s biggest talents, including John Wagner, Alan Grant, Carlos Ezquerra, Mike Collins, Simon Bisley, Richard Elson, Simon Spurrier and Eric Powell, amongst many others.

Author Biography

John Wagner has been scripting for 2000 AD for more years than he cares to remember. His creations include Judge Dredd, Strontium Dog, Ace Trucking, Al’s Baby, Button Man and Mean Machine. Outside of 2000 AD his credits include Star Wars, Lobo, The Punisher and the critically acclaimed A History of Violence.

With over 300 2000 AD stories to his name – not to mention over 250 Daily Star Judge Dredd strips – Alan Grant’s prolific creative record speaks for itself. Outside the Galaxy’s Greatest Comic, Grant is well-known to Batman fans following a lengthy run on various incarnations of the title. More recently he has adapted Robert Louis Stevenson’s classic novels Kidnapped and Doctor Jekyll and Mr Hyde in graphic novel format with artist Cam Kennedy.

An inker and writer, Andy Lanning has worked on a variety of titles for DC and Marvel. He has collaborated on several stories for 2000 AD.

Steve White is the co-creator of Black Light for 2000 AD, and has also written Rogue Trooper, Flesh, Vector 13 and Venus Bluegenes. His other work includes Lords of Misrule and HyperSonic.

Robbie Morrison is one of 2000 AD’s most popular writers, having co-created The Bendatti Vendetta, Shakara, Shimura and Vanguard, as well as being one of the select few writers to have chronicled the adventures of Judge Dredd in 2000 AD and the Judge Dredd Megazine. He is also co-creator of fan-favourite strip Nikolai Dante, which won an Eagle award for ‘Best Character’ in 2002, beating Judge Dredd to this accolade for the first time in almost twenty years. In the US, he has written Spider-Man’s Tangled Web for Marvel and The Authority for DC/WildStorm. His and artist Charlie Adlard’s critically acclaimed graphic novel White Death has also been hugely successful in both Europe and the US.

Simon “Si” Spurrier writes novels and comics. His work in the latter field stretches from award winning creator-owned books such as Numbercruncher, Six-Gun Gorilla and The Spire to projects in the U.S. mainstream like X-Men, Silver Surfer and Crossed. It all began with a series of twist-in-the-tail stories for the UK’s beloved 2000 AD, which ignited an enduring love for genre fiction. His latest book, Cry Havoc, is being published by Image Comics at present. His prose works range from the beatnik neurosis-noir of Contract to the occult whodunnit A Serpent Uncoiled via various franchise and genre-transgressing titles. In 2016 he took a foray into experimental fiction with the e-novella Unusual Concentrations: a tale of coffee, crime and overhead conversations. He lives in London, regards sushi as part of the plotting process, and does not have a cat.

Alec Worley was a burger-flipper, a projectionist and a film critic before completing his Future Shock apprenticeship for 2000 AD and creating two original series: Age of the Wolf (with Jon Davis-Hunt) and Dandridge (with Warren Pleece). He’s also written Judge Dredd, Robo-Hunter, Tharg’s 3rillers and Tales From The Black Museum, as well as Judge Dredd short stories and a novella, Judge Anderson: Heartbreaker.
