Summary

The most complete and comprehensive "Modern Korean Martial Arts History" ever compiled and presented in book format. The text contains detailed information on over ninety individual Korean Arts, Schools, Styles and Systems. The major arts and styles such as Tae Kwon Do, Yudo and Hapkido are covered in great detail. In addition, a number of the lessor known arts such as Han Pul, Tuk Gung Mu Sool and Ship Pal Ki are covered as well. All of the major Kwans or schools such as Moo Duk Kwan and Chung Do Kwan are presented in detail with a good deal of information provided on the smaller and less familiar schools. The text provides historical and background information on over one-hundred and twenty forms/patterns used in a variety of Korean Martial Arts. Detailed information is presented on the "older" patterns used by Korean Martial Artists as well as the "new" recently introduced forms. The book also includes a thirty-two page terminology section with Korean/English terms. The terminology presented covers literally all the Korean terms for anatomy, techniques, concepts, movement and motion, commands for training/class and competition.

Author Biography

Glenn Jones was born in 1955 in a small suburb of Washington D.C..His first Martial Arts training was at an "Old Southern Military Academy" where he attended high school. He has spent thirty seven years training in the Korean Arts. He holds Instructor certification and Senior Master Rank in Tang Soo Do and Han Kuk Mu Sool as well as Black Belt rank in Hapkido, Hap Ki Yu Sool and Tae Kwon Do. He has twice been inducted into the United States Head of Family Martial Arts Association Hall of Honor for the research done on the history of Korean Martial Arts. In 2002 along with several associates who shared a common interest in traditional Korean Arts, he would found the "Korean Martial Arts Historical Research Society. He currently resides in Maryland with his wife and children.
