Summary

This is a wonderful adaptation to the well-known tale by Charles Dickens. In this novel, the author is highly critical of debtors’ prisons, which often imprisoned entire families (as was the case with Dickens’ own family). The novelist takes us back to London and the deplorable living conditions of those in the lower social strata of the time. Through words, he was able to bring these important issues to light and create social awareness.
