The compact version of the most popular Literature anthology continues to bring students the finest literature in a newly revised, easier-to-study format. Literature is written in an engaging style that reflects the warm personal voice of X. J. Kennedy and Dana Gioia.

Some of the changes to the new edition include conversations with celebrated fiction writer Amy Tan, U. S. Poet Laureate Kay Ryan, and contemporary playwright David Ives; the addition of new writers including Naguib Mahfouz, Virginia Woolf, Sherman Alexie, Mary Oliver, Bettie Sellers, and Anne Deavere Smith; and every chapter concludes with a review of key terms for easy reference. The Writing section has been thoroughly updated to reflect MLA’s latest guidelines.

This is the most popular textbook in the country for Introduction to Literature courses.

An abundance of great literary works! April 7, 2011
This book is quite amazing, there is so much jam packed in this book that it could be used for many years and many levels of English / Literature for many different types of people with their own individual styles. The pages are like Bible paper... thin, and so much knowledge contained within. It is going to be an adventure getting through this whole book, even if we don't get through the whole thing in my class. It is a great resource from beginning to end, from beginner to expert. This was the first time I have ever ordered off the internet. I was kind of scared at first to pay for something like this over the internet. It is wonderful how technology allows us to do this now. This book was in the exact condition that ecampus stated it was. I was very pleased; this is a very handy piece of literature to have around when writing in college, great book on style, narrative literature, novels, short story, and poetry. Wonderful information to impart on teens!
