Summary

This fully illustrated bilingual book explores the mysterious Nazca line drawings in Peru through the eyes of Maria Reiche, who discovered them in the 1940's. The story is told in short poetic lines on each page, while the illustrations depict the enormity of the giant animal drawings, which can only be seen from the air.

Author Biography

Anita Jepson-Gilbert has been researching the Nazca Lines since 1986. In 2003 she traveled to Peru to see the line drawings for herself and to interview those who personally knew Maria Reiche and her work. Today the author lives near Denver, Colorado, where she teaches English as a Second Language and writes her poetry.
