Author Biography

Becky Lomax first saw the Northern Lights dancing green and white in Yellowstone’s night sky. Yellowstone is also the first place she heard elk bugle, skied past steaming hot springs and geysers and drove up the road inside a herd of migrating bison. No matter what season, Yellowstone and Grand Teton captivate her.

After teaching high school English outside Seattle, Becky moved to Montana, where she served as a hiking and backpacking guide, worked at a ski resort, and began to write about the outdoors. She has spent more than two decades exploring the Northern Rockies, including Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks.

Through her writing, Becky advocates for the conservation of wild places. She has written about hiking trails and historic lodges, camping and climate change and has tagged along with biologists into the field to radio-collar bighorn sheep and grizzly bears.

Becky serves as the western editor for OnTheSnow.com, reporting on the news for ski resorts. She also writes frequently for regional newspapers and magazines and has published stories in Smithsonian and Backpacker. She is the author of Moon Glacier National Park and Moon Montana, Wyoming, & Idaho Camping.
