Summary

I have chosen the seventeen-syllable haiku and senryu formulation for its discipline in order to express my thoughts on nature, existence, and human relationships. The mundane is never mundane. All life is a vibrant existence for the one who has a keen awareness of one's surroundings whether animate or inanimate. There are worlds to observe if we have eyes to see and ears to hear and later reflect in solitude.

Excerpts

Many years ago, I read "Prayers of Life" the reflective poems of Michel Quoist where he wrote of the profound messages he observed from all human experiences through work, recreation, relationships, joy and sorrow, life and death. My poems reflect the same in the short haiku form. mists are closing in coyote prowling seven forty five raindrops patter zigzag trail risking civilization critical meeting at eight farewell Ketchikan daringly for food freeway accident crowded noisy bar a mighty tower of steel glass on glass again consumed home to thousands seeking fun foolish talk is heard cruising and swaying Manhattan's canyons feeding ducks in pond crowds sirens cruising taxis they paddle at toss of crumb nature negated signal travels fast
