The hero of this story wanted to be a rock star when he grew up, but instead he became an accountant. The corporate lifestyle suited him well, and he mastered the fine art of doing nothing while appearing to be very busy. Outside of work, he maintained a very active social life, befriending the types of characters in New York City that people don't warn you about; the PR Girl, the Investment Banker, the Fashionista, the Real Estate Agent and the Meathead to name a few. At one point, there may have been ""the girl,"" but she was long gone. While working for a great designer, he devoted large portions of his day to writing stories, browsing the Internet and recovering from the hangover he received as a result of his excessive drinking the night before. Painfully Awkward is a collection of these stories.
