PiHKAL is an acronym for Phenethylamines I Have Known and Loved. It's a unique book written by renowned psychopharmacologist, Alexander Shulgin, about his research and investigations into the use of psychedelic drugs for the study of the human mind. It's also a love story about him and his wife Ann Shulgin; how they met, how they traveled together into ethereal realms, how they lived and loved. PiHKAL, is divided into two parts. The first part, for which all rights are reserved, begins with the story described above. The second part of PiHKAL is a detailed synthesis manual for a host of psychedelic phenethylamines (many discovered by Alexander Shulgin himself), including their chemical structures, dosage recommendations, and qualitative comments.
