Summary

Allen French (1870-1946) was an American historian and childrens book author who did major research on the battles of Lexington and Concord, during the American Revolutionary War. Born in Boston, French attended Harvard University for his undergraduate education. Several of his childrens books were illustrated by painter Andrew Wyeth. His works include: The Junior Cup (1901), Sir Marrok: A Tale of the Days of King Arthur (1902), The Colonials (1902), Story of Rolf and The Vikings Bow (1904), Heroes of Iceland (1905), Story of Grettir the Strong (1908), Siege of Boston (1911), At Plattsburg (1917), The Day of Concord and Lexington (1925) and The Taking of Ticonderoga in 1775 (1928).
