Summary

The book opens with a letter to a daughter leaving home, as a device to 1) provide her with recipes of all her favourite dishes and 2) to prepare her in a subtle way of life's potential ups and downs with stories from her own journey through life.

Written with subtle humour and a touch of irony the adventures of Alice Bonneville Beck take us from campsite to kitchen, from Parisian tenement to Australian outback and the misty Norwegian mountains. The story unfolds through childhood mistakes and teeanage dreams and lessons learned to the losses and achievements of a young woman following her quest to find a home. Each chapter ends will an exotic recipe to delight the senses, all of which are tried and true.
