The book is themed by three subjects: the main characteristics of his work and his importance for 20th century photography, the notion of the poetry of realism and 164 photos, which are also themed: daily beauty, Palm Springs, artists' studios.

Author Biography

Danielle Leenarts teaches History of Photography at the Université Libre de Bruxelles. Virginie Devillers is an art historian. She is teaches art history, esthetic philosophy, contemporary literature and modern photography.
