Author Biography

Charles M. Day III was born in Memphis Tennessee on October 12, 1950. His formative years were spent in Mississippi. Charles' Love for writing began with his stepmother Elisabeth Ann an English and literature teacher. He developed an appreciation for poetry because It gave him an outlet to express what he felt deep inside. Charles spent 4 years in the US Navy during the vet Nam war. He was an Original crew member of the USS Coronado. The title of His first book "Thoughts of The Transplanted Mississippianö reflects his attitude that no matter where his is His heart is always in Mississippi. Charles now lives with his wife and two of his three children in a small town is western Kansas. Where farmland and tumble weeds replace the beloved woods of his youth. The Transplanted Mississippianö is a poetic slice of the author's life during the years of the G. W. Bush Administration. Charles made it a habit to e-mail the President and other Government officials with encouragements and sometimes strong opinions on national events. The poetry that ended each e-mail reflects his deep belief in GOD. Charles wrote dedications though poetry to his children, his wife, His father the Armed Services, the President, First Lady and others. Several poems have received the ôEditors Choice Awardö from Poetry.com. Charles was honored to have six of his poems displayed in the Pentagon.
