Small Ring Compounds in Organic Synthesis VI

This current and five previous volumes (Volumes 133, 135, 144, 155, 17 8) convincingly demonstrate the vast applications of small rings in mo dern organic synthesis. Such applications range from total syntheses o f cyclopropyl-group-containing natural products and non-natural biolog ically active compounds or compounds with other important properties v ia syntheses of cyclopropyl analogues to the use of cyclopropyl groups as reactive subunits. This volume covers a survey of the wide range o f biological activities of cyclopropyl-containing compounds, up-to-dat e comprehensive reviews on the multiple applicabilities of two multifu nctional small ring building blocks - methyl 2-chloro-2-cyclopropylide neacetate and bicyclopropylidene - in organic synthesis as well as a s triking new approach to cyclopentenones from easily accessible 1-ethyn ylcyclopropanols, which is rather general and favorably complements ot her cyclopentenone syntheses.
