Author Biography

Gregory Luhan: Gregory A. Luhan, AIA, is the Associate Dean for Research for the College of Design at the University of Kentucky and an Associate Professor at the School of Architecture. Luhan’s research has been exhibited worldwide and has garnered international awards and Best Paper for his innovative uses of technology and instruction and for his virtual models that have been used for international competitions.

Lee T. Todd: Lee T. Todd Jr. is the current president of the University of Kentucky. He serves as chair of the Advisory Board for the National Science Foundation’s Directorate for Education and Human Resources Committee and of the APLU Science Math Teacher Imperative. He serves on the EQT Corporation Board of Directors and is chair of the Kentucky Council on Postsecondary Education’s STEM Task Force. He is also chair of the National Consortium for Continuous Improvement in Higher Education’s Leveraging Excellence Award selection panel.

Paul Kaplan: Paul Kaplan is the Senior Advisor to Secretary Jonathan Miller for the Commonwealth of Kentucky Finance and Administration Cabinet. He is the Director of the Kentucky Green Bank and serves on the Governor’s High Performance Buildings Advisory Committee. He is a LEED Accredited Professional and an active Member of the Green Committee for the 2010 World Equestrian Games.

Donald Colliver: Donald G. Colliver, Ph.D., P.E., FASHRAE, PMASHRAE, is a professor in the University of Kentucky Biosystems and Agricultural Engineering Department with over 30 years of research and teaching experience in environmental control, design of high performance buildings, analysis of building energy usage and building codes and standards. He was co-principal investigator in UK’s S•KY Blue Solar Decathlon entry.

Michael Speaks: Michael Speaks is Dean of the College of Design and Professor of Architecture at the University of Kentucky. Former Director of the Graduate Program at the Southern California Institute of Architecture, Speaks has also taught at the Yale School of Art, the architecture schools at Harvard and Columbia, University of Michigan, UCLA, Art Center College of Design, and the Berlage Institute and TU Delft. Speaks is a founding editor of the cultural journal Polygraph, former Senior editor at Any in New York, and an advisory board member of a+u and contributing editor for Architectural Record.
