Author Biography

Wendy L. Bowcher is a professor at Sun Yat-sen University, China. Her research interests include multimodal discourse analysis, context in SFL theory, and English intonation. She is co-editor with Bradley A. Smith of Systemic Phonology: Recent Studies in English (2014), editor of Multimodal Texts from Around the World: Cultural and Linguistic Insights (2012) and co-editor with Terry D. Royce of New Directions in the Analysis of Multimodal Discourse (2007, 2014).

Jennifer Yameng Liang is a lecturer at the University of Science and Technology Beijing, China. Her research interests center on both theoretical explorations and practical applications of Systemic Functional Linguistics (SFL), in particular, the concepts of context and ecosocial environment and multimodal/multisemiotic studies.
