Author Biography

Sondra Perl, PhD., is Professor of English at Lehman College and the Graduate Center of the City University of New York where she coordinates the Ph.D. program in composition and rhetoric. She thanks Charles Schuster for his ever present sense of humor which enlivened every step in the process of creating this book. Charles Schuster. Ph.D., is Director of the Honors College at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. Past-President of the Council of Writing Program administrators and former Director of the NCTE Commission on Composition, he has written extensively on Mikhail Bakhtin, the teaching of writing and contemporary essayists. Working on this book with Sandra Perl has been for him a labor of love.
