Author Biography

Originally from Mint Hill, North Carolina Dana Lowery Ramseur graduated from Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools then earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of North Carolina in Pembroke and her Master's Degree in Library and Information Studies from East Carolina University. She is Nationally Board Certified and the head librarian for Central Cabarrus High School. She loves the opportunity to work with students and encourage a love of reading while stressing the importance of seeking accurate and sound information in print and online. Dana is a member of the Lumbee tribe of North Carolina, the ninth largest tribe in the country. She travels to schools, universities, and museums throughout the year to speak on behalf of her tribe. She has organized and planned cultural celebrations and participates in cultural events locally and where her tribe predominantly resides (Pembroke, North Carolina). She has been married to Dolph Ramseur, her best friend, for 22 years and has two amazing sons, Dolan and Evan. She is daily inspired by her family, books, music, and cultures. Her favorite book is Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde and her favorite book series is Harry Potter. She aligns her passion with a quote from Sarah Winnemucca Hopkins a Paiute American Indian Activist which reads "Much money and many precious lives would have been saved if you had fought my people with Books instead of Power "
