For an entire generation of Canadians, this book defined their nation. It is a book that speaks to us still. Winner of the Governor General's literary award for nonfiction, acclaimed by critics at home and abroad, The Unknown Country is an unforgettable portrait of a nation in the making-a portrait as vivid, lively, and true as when it first appeared during the dark, heroic days of the Second World War.
