Author Biography

Donovan X. Ramsey is a journalist, author, and indispensable voice on issues of race, politics, and patterns of power in America. His commentary on the Obama era has been featured in The New York Times and his reporting on the criminal justice system has appeared in outlets including The Atlantic, GQ, Gawker, BuzzFeed, Vice, and Ebony, among others. Ramsey covers Black L.A. for the Los Angeles Times. He worked as an editor and writer for Complex, NewsOne, and TheGrio, and as commentary editor at The Marshall Project. Ramsey holds a master's degree from the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism and a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Morehouse College.
