Author Biography

Jennifer M. Pendergast is a Senior Consultant of The Family Business Consulting Group, Inc. She specializes in strategic planning, family and business governance, family office structure, and facilitation. Jennifer is an experienced management consultant with an extensive background in the many strategic challenges faced by family firms serving a broad range of clients, ranging from startup to Fortune 500 companies, in both for-profit and non-profit arenas. With a Ph.D. in strategy, Pendergast has taught Emory University’s Goizueta Business School, Georgia Tech and The Wharton Business School. Her teaching experience spans undergraduate, MBA and executive level programs.

Amy M. Schuman is a Principal of the Family Business Consulting Group, Inc. and works with family businesses on leadership development, communication skills and team building. Her experience is centered on helping family members collaboratively create systems, structures and relationships to help them function as effective stewards of their enterprise.  Amy was the founding facilitator of the Next Generation Leadership Institute, an intensive, two-year program for next generation family business leaders that is part of the Loyola University Chicago Family Business Center. In that capacity, from 1996–2006, Amy coached over 30 men and women to assume leadership positions in their family businesses. Amy also founded and facilitated Loyola’s first Peer Advisory Group for women at Loyola and also taught group process and facilitation skills in Loyola's Family Business Communication Institute. She is the author of Nurturing the Talent to Nurture the Legacy: Career Development in the Family Business and the co-author of A Woman’s Place…: The Crucial Roles of Women in Family Business and has been an adjunct faculty member of the Lake Forest College Graduate School of Management and has taught at the University of Illinois, Chicago Campus, MBA program. 

Kelly LeCouvie is a Senior Associate of the Family Business Consulting Group, Inc.  She is a family business management consultant working with entrepreneurial and family-run organizations specializing in facilitating communication among family members, succession planning, strategic planning, as well as leadership and board development.  In addition to her involvement with her own family business, she is a faculty member at the Schulich School of Business, York University where she teaches strategic management, entrepreneurship and organization behavior.  As the author of Management and Organization Behavior, Kelly regularly speaks at conferences on management of organizational change, strategic leadership, policy and board development, as well other family business-related topics. 

Ann Dugan is an Associate of the Family Business Consulting Group, Inc. and Founderm, Executive Director, and Assistant Dean of the Institute for Entrepreneurial Excellence, part of the Joseph M. Katz Graduate School of Business at the University of Pittsburgh. She specializes in areas of family business, strategic planning, development of the franchise system, and the dynamics of the entrepreneurial firm.  A frequent contributor to articles published in Fortune, Inc, New York Times, Entrepreneur, Wall Street Journal, Washington Post, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette and the Business Times.  Ms. Dugan currently serves on the boards of Innovation Works, Pittsburgh Gateways, Three Rivers Workforce Investment Board (TRWIB), Bridgeway Capital, and VisitPittsburgh.

Sharon P. Krone is a former Senior Associate of the Family Business Consulting Group, Inc. and the Facilitator of the Next Generation Leadership Institute at Loyola University in Chicago, IL.  She specializes in family meeting facilitiation, family education, next generation leadership development and inheritors of wealth issues.

Denise H. Kenyon-Rouvinez is a Senior Associate of the Family Business Consulting Group, Inc., based in Switzerland.  She is a researcher, speaker, and consultant working with family businesses on governance issues such as establishing a business board that works; defining roles, tasks, and responsibilities for business, family and shareholders; family councils; and performance evaluation and control.  With her research and work on serial business families, she also helps families to find a path for change and entrepreneurial development.
