Author Biography

Janet S. Wong is the award-winning author of several poetry collections and picture books, including The Rainbow Hand: Poems About Mothers and Children and Grump. Janet says, "When I was a child, I hated creative writing because I felt I didn't have anything good to write about. Nothing important, or exotic. Other kids went on glamorous vacations. Other kids had amazing talents. I had a regular, boring life. It took me a while to figure out that my regular, boring life is full of lots of things that I can write about. My messy room. My mistakes. My family. My fears. And I wrote about these things here, in You Have to Write." Ms. Wong lives with her husband and their son, Andrew, in Medina, Washington.
