Author Biography

Connie Porter grew up near Buffalo, New York, where the winters are long and hard. As girls, she and her sisters trudged through deep snow to borrow books from the bookmobile that came to the neighborhood twice a week. After the girls finished their homework at night, they crawled into their beds and read the books aloud to each other. Ms. Porter still loves to read books. Today, she lives in Virginia. She stays in close touch with her mother and her eight brothers and sisters, fifteen nieces and nephews, and five great-nephews. Dahl Taylor wanted to be an illustrator even before he knew what one was. As a small boy he would spend hours gazing at the pictures in books. Mr. Taylor, who now has a small boy of his own, lives in Albany, New York, with his wife, Deirdre, and their cat, Max.
