Author Biography

Arthur M. Cohen is professor of higher education at the University of California, Los Angeles. He is the author of The Shaping of American Higher Education (Jossey-Bass, 1998) Florence B. Brawer is research director of the Center for the Study of Community Colleges. Cohen and Brawer are the editor-in-chief and associate editor, respectively, of the Jossey-Bass quarterly series New Directions for Community Colleges.
