Summary

In Spring of 1926, the corpses of three men are found in shallow graves in Epping Forest outside of London. Each one was shot through the heart. Called in to investigate, DCI Alec Fletcher of Scotland Yard is under urgent orders to accomplish two things-solve the murders quickly and keep his wife, the Honourable Daisy Dalrymple Fletcher, far, far away from the case! Luckily for Alec, Daisy is off visiting their daughter at school. But when one of the school's teachers is found dead, the body in the center of a maze, Daisy is once again in the thick of it. As Daisy tries to solve one murder, Alec uncovers the link between the three victims in London. All three were in the same Army company during World War I and their murders are likely related to specific events that unfolded during that tragic conflict. And if the last piece of the puzzle isn't put together soon, and the killer revealed, those three bodies might only be the beginning.
