Author Biography

Rudolf Wittkower was Durning-Lawrence Professor of the History of Art at the University of London, Chairman of the Department of Art History and Archaeology at Columbia University, Kress Professor at the National Gallery of Art, Washington, and Slade Professor at Cambridge Joseph Connors is Professor of Art History and Archaeology at Columbia University. Jennifer Montagu was Curator of the Photographic Collection at the Warburg Institute, University of London.
