Author Biography

Timothy Ryan is an Oklahoma-based freelance writer and photographer who has hiked and chased birds in more than ninety countries on six continents. He first fell in love with hiking while working in Rocky Mountain National Park as a camp counselor for Cheley Colorado Camps and later spent thirteen years hiking all over northern New Mexico while living in the foothills of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains. Timothy is an Outdoor Travel writer for Examiner.com and shares his adventures and photography on the award-winning travel and nature blog – From the Faraway, Nearby. He is a member of the Oklahoma Master Naturalists and the Oklahoma Visual Arts Coalition. Timothy is an active conservationist and has worked on projects in Kenya, Nicaragua, Peru and Oklahoma. In 2007 the magic of the southern Great Plains lured him back home and he now resides back in Oklahoma City.
