Summary

Perl is a versatile scripting language, extremely useful for a variety of tasks including system administration, web programming, XML programming, and database management. In the past few years, Perl has found its way into complex web applications of multinational banks, the U.S. Federal Reserve, and hundreds of large corporations. Perl Pocket Reference, 4th Edition covers the latest release - Perl 5.8 - with a summary of Perl syntax rules, a complete list of operators, built-in functions, and standard library modules. All with brief, easy to find descriptions. You'll find the newest Perl features, such as enhanced regular expressions, multithreading, the Perl compiler, and Unicode support. A complete overview of Perl packed into a convenient pocket-sized guide that's easy to take anywhere.
