Community Care in Perspective fills a major gap in medical and social history by offering a detailed account of community provision for so called "vulnerable adults", from 1948 in the UK. Author Biography

John Welshman is Senior Lecturer in Public Health in the Institute for Health Research at Lancaster University, UK. He is author of Underclass: A History of the Excluded, 1880-2000 and of recent articles in Economic History Review, The Journal of Social Policy, and Twentieth Century British History.
