Author Biography

Dr David Roesner is a Senior Lecturer in Drama at the University of Exeter His research interests include experimental music theatre, incidental music, and contemporary European theatre. He won the Thurnau Award for Music Theatre Studies in 2007 and is the author of Theater als Musik/Theatre as Music (Narr 2003), which investigates musicalization in the theatre of Christoph Marthaler, Einar Schleef und Robert Wilson. He has co-edited Szenische Orte Mediale Rume / Theatre places-Media Spaces (Olms 2005) and Theatre Noise: The Sound of Performance (CSP 2011) and published numerous articles and chapters. David Roesner also works internationally as a theatre teacher, theatre musician and director. Dr Matthias Rebstock for Scenic Music at the University of Hildesheim. His research interests include contemporary music and music theatre, experimental music, sound art, aesthetics, and performance studies. He is the author of Komposition zwischen Musik und Theater. Das instrumental Theater von Mauricio Kagel zwischen 1959 und 1965 (Hofheim, 2007) and co-editor of Kollektive in den Knsten (Hildesheim, 2008). He has also directed numerous music theatre productions and was the 2007 winner, of the International Theatre Institute Niebla together with the composer Elena Mendoza.
