There is no accurate record of the number of electrograms recorded annually across the world, but it remains one of the most commonly used non-invasive investigations in the diagnostic armamentarium of the physician, despite or perhaps because of advances made in other techniques. There is evidence to suggest that the numbers of electrograms ordered has risen exponentially in the 1970-1990s and continues to rise today as cardiologists recognize the value of such a direct physiological measure of heart health.Over the past century, there have been many good publications on the subject of electrocardiology. The second and third volumes of the book deal with the more clinical aspects of recording and interpreting the electrocardiogram, with the third volume concentrating on some of the specialized ' though no less important ' aspects of electrocardiology and electrocardiography.
