Summary

Cutter has a case of money that does not belong to him. Fearing he has become quarry to maniacs, he flees his home with his wife and newborn son.

Detectives Hill and Weston are investigating a botched trafficking deal at an isolated shooting lodge when they find two piles of bodies—the traffickers and the human product—but no money.

The owners of the money start to hunt, dragging the detectives and the Cutters into a bloody game of cat and mouse. Yet as they descend into an underworld of violence and corruption and personal hell, death shadows all in the guise of two fearsome and enigmatic figures.

Author Biography

Steven Maxwell is the author of the novel Hanging Fields (Montag Press, 2012) and is published in Salt Publishing’s Horizon Review, Outside the Asylum, The Big Issue, Staple, and Dream Catcher. He holds an M.A. with distinction in creative writing.
