Excerpts

Dane County Place-Names is more than a dictionary of local nomenclatures, more than a compendium of historical facts and topographical curiosities. It is the kind of wondrous little volume that compels you to put it down, get up and seek out the places named, to visit them first-hand and to understand this place where you live.”—David Medaris, from the foreword
