In the case of West Virginia prejudice and partisanship have tended to obscure the exact truth, and "The Disruption of Virginia" is an attempt to present an unbiased account of the strange course of events in the history of Virginia from the time of Lincoln's election to the presidency to the month of June, 1863, when West Virginia was formally admitted into the Union........Many of the earliest books, particularly those dating back to 1900's and before, are now extremely scarce and increasingly expensive.
