Author Biography

Michael R. Bloomberg is the 108th Mayor of the City of New York, elected to office in 2001. He has cut crime; created jobs; unleashed a boom of affordable housing; implemented ambitious public health strategies; gained control of the nation’s largest school district; and improved the efficiency of government. In 2005, he was re- elected by a diverse coalition of support. He is the founder of Bloomberg LP, the world’s largest international financial news and data company. Widely recognized as one of the country’s leading philanthropists, in 2007 Bloomberg donated more than $200 million. He has sat on the boards of numerous charitable, cultural, and educational institutions and as Mayor of New York City, he declines a salary.
